Soggy conditions did not keep Manchester and Derry from playing their scheduled game.

The Manchester Gamblers faced a tough opponent in Derry pitcher Almandeto Castro, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Potato Patch by a final score of 4-3. Castro went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Baudelio Ruiz was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-4. The losing pitcher was Pedro Pérez.

Manchester used a timely hit from 32-year old center fielder Santiago Marrero to get the win. The center fielder delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Gamblers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was huge.

"I still think this team can play even better," Marrero told the Manchester Herald.

The first-place Gamblers improved to 53-45.
