Templeton Beaten, 9-5, by Winchendon
|
The Winchendon Rocking Horses defeated the Templeton Red Onions, 9-5, in part because of pinch hitter Filiberto Carbonell. Carbonell went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Rocking Horses. Winchendon reliever Ramón Govantes was the winner. His record is now 8-6. The losing pitcher was Cresencio Zapata. George Wilson got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
In the top of the eighth, the Rocking Horses grabbed the lead when Carbonell hit his 3rd home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Cresencio Zapata made it 9-5, Winchendon.
"It never gets old," said Carbonell. "Winning, that is."
Today's win puts Winchendon at 45-54, while Templeton falls to 55-44.
