Pilot Whales Use Late Surge to Win
|
The Pilot Whales grabbed a win, 6-2, at The Mine, overcoming a fine effort from Providence pitcher Kit McKenna. McKenna went 7.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. The first-place Pilot Whales improved to 59-40.
Newport used a timely hit from Ordoño Serrano to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pilot Whales ahead, 4-2. It might've been his only hit, but it did the trick.
Serrano called the win "an overall solid one."
