Deep Ones Collect 7-6 Win Over Submersibles
Newburyport starter Gabriel Salinas turned in a competent performance at Innsmouth-under-the-Shadow Park as the Deep Ones beat the Falmouth Submersibles, 7-6, in 10 innings. Víctor Hugo Chávez earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 5-5. Newburyport is now 47-53, Falmouth 52-48.

Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 31-year old third baseman Simón Villanueva had a real shot to win the game. Falmouth pitcher Alberto Huerta was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Villanueva hit a run-scoring single. The Deep Ones had a walk-off triumph.

"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Newburyport skipper Tiobrady Kelly.
