Providence Carves Out 4-1 Win
|
At The Mine, the Cranston Madonnas and Providence Gems were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Providence Gems picked up a win at The Mine, knocking off the Cranston Madonnas, 4-1. Starting pitcher Silvio Rojas played a key role in the triumph. The Gems now have a record of 33-68.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Blas Cazares came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cranston pitcher Callum Ferguson, he hit a 2-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Providence on top, 2-1.
"I'm happy we won," said Rojas. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
