Slumping Quarrymen Lose Again
The losses keep piling up for the Rutland Quarrymen.

Barre beat Rutland at The Pit, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to second baseman Tácito Piñeda. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. The winning pitcher was Sebastián Morillo. He's now 19-7. He went 9 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits for the Headstones.

Barre used the bat of Jaime Nevárez to capture the win. The pinch hitter jacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Headstones ahead, 5-4. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a dandy.

Afterward, Rutland manager Eduardo Rodríguez said: "Every team has a bad week."

The Headstones improved their record to 55-57 with the win over Rutland.
