Slumping Quarrymen Lose 10th Straight
The Rutland Quarrymen extended their losing streak with a defeat by the Burlington Lightermen.

The Burlington Lightermen downed the Rutland Quarrymen, 8-5, at The Dock. Raúl Téllez led the way, going 1-for-2 for Burlington. Miguel Santiago, who is tied for 6th in the NNEA in saves with 6, earned the save for Burlington.

In the bottom of the eighth, Burlington center fielder Manuel Mendoza whacked a fastball to right for a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season put the Lightermen in front, 7-5.

Said losing manager Eduardo Rodríguez: "These are the grinding hard days that all good teams go through, and this is when we've got to stick together and believe in one another."

The misery never ends for the Quarrymen, who've lost 10 in a row.
