Late Rally Earns Bennington 7-6 Win
Despite a great performance by Rutland second baseman Bernard Dumont, the Bennington Melodeons defeated the Quarrymen by the score of 7-6 in 10 innings at Melodeon Grounds. Dumont was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Bennington raised its record to 79-41 with the win.

The decisive blow was delivered by Eduardo Frésquez in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Joe Gannon to win the game for Bennington. The home crowd went nuts.

"We just never give in," said Frésquez. "We think we've got an opportunity as long as we have an at-bat and some outs left."
