Waterville beat Auburn in a rain-soaked ballgame.

José Ocampo, who is tied for 10th in the NNEA in saves with 7, had a strong outing for the Waterville Elms against the Auburn Cordwainers at The Shoebox. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Ocampo, now 21-9, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jack Johnson? The Waterville right fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Elms on top, 5-2. For the game, Johnson had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Waterville manager Milt Scott was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.

With the win, Waterville goes to 68-54, while the Cordwainers fall to 72-50.
