Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Auburn Cordwainers take on the Waterville Elms.

Waterville picked up a win at The Shoebox, bumping off the Auburn Cordwainers, 4-2. Pitcher Catón López was a major reason the Elms emerged victorious. Their 69-55 record puts the Elms second in the Northern New England Association Maine Circuit.

Waterville pinch hitter Esteban Lois produced at a critical juncture. It happened in the top of the ninth with Leopoldo Zataraín on the mound and Waterville leading 3-2. Lois drew a walk, driving in 1 run.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Waterville manager Milt Scott.
