The bats were silent much of the day at The Gatehouse. But slick-fielding third baseman Armando Cabañas produced just enough offense to carry the Gatekeepers past the Derry Spuds, 3-2. Cabañas threw 9.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The third-place Gatekeepers sport a record of 60-67.

With runs few and far between, the Gatekeepers had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Nashua came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when 26-year old first baseman Disibodo Ávila delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Almandeto Castro and made the score 3-1, Gatekeepers. Ávila was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Cabañas.
