Rocking Horses Win by Slim Margin, 3-2
|
Winchendon Rocking Horses starter Calvino Mejía was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Newburyport Deep Ones, 3-2. The Rocking Horses raised their record to 63-69.
The decisive blow was delivered by Víctor Hugo González in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 30-year old right-handed pitcher Sammy Rissanen to win the game for Winchendon. The home crowd went nuts.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Mejía told the Winchendon News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
