The Woonsocket Foxes could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Urías Hernández into a win. Instead, the Providence Gems prevailed, 4-2. Hernández threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. Ed Hughes was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Bert Inks collected save number 1.

In the top of the second, Esteban Ramírez delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 3rd, the Providence second baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Gems in front, 4-2.

"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Ramírez told the Providence Daily News.

The Gems now have a mark of 45-87.
