A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Patillas Panaderos and Maunabo Tranquilos.
The Patillas Panaderos picked up a win at Parquecito de Patillas, downing the Maunabo Tranquilos, 5-2. On the mound for Patillas was right-hander Ismael González, who played a pivotal role in the win. González, now 6-2, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs.
The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Cristián Soto came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Maunabo pitcher Girolamo Memmoli, he hit a 0-1 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Patillas on top, 3-2.
"Winning is seldom easy in this league," said González.
Patillas bumps their record to 17-14 with the win.
