Sabaneros Capture Close Win
|
The Sabaneros grabbed a win, 4-3, at Parquecito de Jayuya, overcoming a fine effort from Jayuya pitcher Livio Treviño. Treviño went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Cidra reliever Efraín Treviño picked up the win to move to 1-0. Serapión Pérez suffered the loss. The 5th-place Sabaneros go to 20-14.
Cidra used the clutch hitting of Eligio Santana to snag the win. The second baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sabaneros ahead, 4-3. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
Santana said afterward that "winning is the goal."
