Mayaguez Triumphs with Late Surge
The Mayaguez Alfereces beat the Isabela Jerezanos, 6-3, at Parquecito de Isabela. The Alfereces got a fine performance from shortstop Acasto Martínez, who was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Matías Arcos collected his 3rd save. The third-place Jerezanos dropped to 23-12.

Mayaguez used the hitting of Dennis Pitchford to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Alfereces on top, 4-3. For the game, Pitchford had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
