The Barranquitas Insignes beat the Jayuya Picachos, 6-3, at Parquecito de Jayuya. Pat Knight, in particular, was impressive. He was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Alberto Carrales got the win, improving to 5-5. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Balbino García collected his 2nd save.
Charles Slater was a prime contributor to the Barranquitas win. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fifth with one out, the 18-year old center fielder hit a 2-run single. It made the score 3-1, in favor of the Insignes.
"We'll put this win in the can," said Slater, "and go after the next one."
Barranquitas now sits at 12-25, while Jayuya falls to 16-19.
