The Hormigueros Companeros topped the Ponce Hidalgos, 10-2, with youngster Jerry Daye playing a key role. Daye went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Companeros in the win. Bernard Parker was the winner. Over 8.1 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts.

With Hormigueros leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Daye hit a sinker from Anselmo Badillo for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Companeros ahead, 3-0.

"We let our audience down today," said Ponce skipper Bill McCloskey.

The Companeros raised their record to 21-20.
