Gritantes Lose as Catecumenes Stage Late Rally
|
The Aguada Catecumenes topped the Lares Gritantes, 3-1, in Liga Mariana Bracetti action at Parquecito de Lares. The standout performance belonged to Aguada pitcher and Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, native José Ocon. Picking up the save was 21-year old left-handed pitcher Efraín López. The triumph puts Aguada at 27-14 for the season.
Aguada used the timely hitting of Cecil Dowell to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Catecumenes on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"At the end of the day, wins and losses are really the only thing that matters," said Dowell.
