Long on a Rampage, Hits for Cycle
|
It was a special day for Dallan Long at Parquecito de Vega Baja. Not only did Long's Barceloneta Guardiamarinas beat the Vega Baja Dulzones, 10-4, but the left fielder hit for the cycle along the way.
The 22-year-old Long racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the record books. For the game, he went 4-for-5 with 6 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.
"He hit everything we threw," said Dulzones manager Ramón Arellano. "There was just no getting him out today."
Speaking to the press after the game, Long said his goal for the day had been to look for "first pitch fastballs."
"I got some good looks today," he said.
Dallan Long hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Arto Kononen in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th.
So far this year, Long is batting .269 with 2 home runs, 17 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
