The Arecibo Cachorros picked up a win at Estadio Lupercal, dropping the Manati Hoplitas, 2-1. Conor Crowe was the difference-maker. The winner was Crowe. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Mitsuro Sakai. Zbynek Hofmann sewed up the save, his 2nd.
With runs few and far between, the Cachorros had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Arecibo came in the bottom of the fifth inning, when 19-year old shortstop Robert Reid delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Mitsuro Sakai and made the score 2-1, Cachorros. Reid was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
