Cumana got a terrific performance from pitcher Enrico Miegge, but it wasn't enough to beat the Guatire Heroes. Guatire won the Estadio de Guatire contest, 4-3. Miegge threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The loss drops Cumana to 7-9.

The game reached a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With Guatire trailing 3-2, Juan Fernández delivered the decisive blow, stroking a curveball from Tomás Ruiz for a 2-run double. Ballgame.

"We'll kick back tonight and enjoy this win," said Fernández.
