Independientes Beat Bizantinos, 7-4
|
Maracaibo Independientes starter Iapeto Martínez pitched well against the Coro Bizantinos at Estadio de Maracaibo, leading his team to a win, 7-4. Coro, with the loss, is still a robust 19-5.
Lienhart Schaecter had a big bases-clearing double for the Independientes in the bottom of the second inning. With Maracaibo leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Rafael Valentín, who led the LO in wins with 19 in 1911, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Independientes ahead, 5-0.
"We've got a great group of guys," Schaecter said, "and we're having fun right now."
