Trujillo Alto Absorbs 6-0 Loss to Culebra
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Culebra and Trujillo Alto from playing their scheduled game.
The Trujillo Alto Arrecostaos had to reckon with Culebra Careyes hurler Mauricio Torres. Torres, who is tied for 2nd in the LJP in wins with 10, overwhelmed the opposition in the 6-0 Careyes triumph. Chim Phan earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-2.
Culebra grabbed control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Garrick Rising delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 1-0, in favor of the Careyes.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Rising.
Culebra sits in second place in the Liga José Padilla División Rosendo Matienzo Cintrón at 35-23.
