Gerardo Martínez pitched a gem to lead Barranquitas to victory over the Caguas Ruidosos, 4-0. Martínez yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 8-7.

Gelmiro Tejeda had a big 3-run home run for the Insignes in the bottom of the third inning. With Barranquitas leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a slider from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Felipe Hernández and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Insignes on top, 4-0.

"Gerardo was pounding the zone," said Barranquitas manager Alejo Zarco.

The 6th-place Insignes bumped their record to 35-27.
