The Luquillo Comecocos scored a tight, 4-3 win versus the Vieques Zumbadorcitos at Parquecito de Luquillo. Luquillo pitcher Pedro López held his own in the contest. López got the win, improving to 7-5. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 3 runs. The second-place Comecocos are now 41-21, the Zumbadorcitos 31-29.
Had Cayetano Fernandes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Fernandes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Comecocos.
Luquillo manager Oscar Romo commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
