Wet weather did not postpone the Maunabo-Guayama ballgame.
The Maunabo Tranquilos picked up a win at Parquecito de Maunabo, downing the Guayama Aprendices, 4-1. On the mound for Maunabo was right-hander Noé Martínez, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Martínez, now 7-6. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6.
Maunabo first baseman Jordan Martens went deep in the bottom of the second. His 2-run home run off Guayama pitcher Arthur Fleetwood put the Tranquilos in front, 2-0. It was his 2nd home run of the season.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Martens. "You've got to get results."
The Tranquilos raised their record to 33-28.
