Lares and Mayaguez duked it out and the Gritantes came out victorious.
The Lares Gritantes knocked off the Mayaguez Alfereces, 5-2, in Liga Mariana Bracetti action at Parquecito de Mayagüez. Lares pitcher and Santiago, Dominican Republic, native Inocencio Preciado had an outstanding performance. Lares is now 34-30, Mayaguez 21-41.
With two out in the top of the eighth, Guillermo Pérez had a game-changing hit. The Gritantes left fielder slammed a run-scoring single off Dietmar Goetschl, making the score 4-2, Lares.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Preciado, "and then get after the next one."
