Late Offense Lifts Rio Grande to 4-3 Victory
|
The Rio Grande Zarzas had to overcome a fine effort from Canovanas pitcher Gareth Grainger to win, 4-3, at Parquecito de Canóvanas. Grainger went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs. With the win, Rio Grande has a record of 28-36. Canovanas falls to 24-38.
William Robb came through with a big-time hit for Rio Grande. The right fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Canovanas manager Tibulo Covarrubias. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
