Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Catecumenes
|
Anasco got a terrific performance from pitcher Jiyuu Okada, but it wasn't enough to beat the Aguada Catecumenes. Aguada won the Parquecito de Añasco contest, 6-4. Okada threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Aguada reliever Emanuel Ruelas was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Yuusaku Otsu took the loss. So far in 1913, Aguada is 40-23.
Aguada used the timely hitting of Miqueas González to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Catecumenes on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This is a very good team," said González. "We have the chance to do something special."
