Guardiamarinas Rally to Nose Past Vega Baja
|
The Barceloneta Guardiamarinas picked up a win at Parquecito de Barceloneta, dropping the Vega Baja Dulzones, 3-2. Tomás Dobrovolny, who is tied for 4th in the LMB in quality starts with 11, was the difference-maker. Dobrovolny yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-8. The 5th-place Dulzones dropped to 35-31.
The Guardiamarinas beat the Dulzones with some clutch hitting. The single by Dragutin Ckrebic in the bottom of the eighth is a good example. With two down, Ckrebic gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he came through with the big hit.
Barceloneta manager Dionisio Medina commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
