The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Parquecito de San Juan.
Florentino Flores did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Arecibo Cachorros from being beaten, 5-4, to the San Juan Ciudadanos at Parquecito de San Juan. Flores went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win belonged to Lubor Kracik in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ed Berard took the loss for Arecibo.
Had Martín Martínez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Martínez hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Ciudadanos.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Martínez told the San Juan Daily News.
The Ciudadanos raised their record to 44-23.
