In a tight contest between the Quebradillas Escondidos and the Mayaguez Alfereces, Andrés Svozil was the determining factor. The Quebradillas right-hander sparkled in his team's 1-0 win. The winning pitcher was Svozil, now 8-9. He tossed 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. The last-place Alfereces have lost 9 consecutive games.

The decisive blow was delivered by Desiderio Lascano in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 19-year old left-handed pitcher Dietmar Goetschl to win the game for Quebradillas. The home crowd went nuts.
