Valdez Helps Alevines Defeat Jerezanos, 19-7
|
The Aguadilla Alevines beat the Isabela Jerezanos, 19-7, at Parquecito de Aguadilla. The Alevines got a fine performance from right fielder Leopoldo Valdez, who was 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 6. Louie Bateman, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. The 5th-place Alevines hiked their record to 44-35.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Alevines grabbed the lead when Valdez hit his 1st home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Malik Drakes made it 10-7, Aguadilla.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Valdez.
