At Parquecito de Lares, the Lares Gritantes and Mayaguez Alfereces were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Mayaguez Alfereces defeated the Lares Gritantes, 5-2, in Liga Mariana Bracetti action at Parquecito de Lares. Mayaguez pitcher Nicanor Sifuentes had a standout performance. Sifuentes picked up the win for Mayaguez, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 10 hits. He now sports a record of 12-9.

The Alfereces took the lead, 2-0, in the top of the third inning. Facing Lares hurler Acón Colón with two outs, Miguel Salcido hit a run-scoring single.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Salcido told the Mayaguez Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs."
