Gritantes Rally For 2-1 Win
The Mayaguez Alfereces wasted an impressive 9.2-inning effort from starter Abenámar Costello, falling, 2-1, to the Lares Gritantes in 12 innings at Parquecito de Lares. Lares pitcher Luis Hernández earned the win, hiking his record to 4-0. Dietmar Goetschl suffered the loss. The third-place Gritantes now have a record of 51-37.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Lares left fielder Guillermo Pérez, facing Dietmar Goetschl, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Gritantes the 2-1 win.

"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Mayaguez manager Camilo Ramírez. "We just didn't cash in."
