Soggy conditions did not keep Ponce and Hormigueros from playing their scheduled game.
Ponce Hidalgos pitcher Silvério Fujioka was in fine form, leading his team past the Hormigueros Companeros, 4-1. In 7.2 innings, Fujioka surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. Joel Wainwright nailed down his 8th save.
Ponce took a 4-1 lead on James McIntosh's 11th double of the season. The 2-run double, which McIntosh hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Hormigueros pitcher Carlomagno Santana visibly frustrated.
Said losing manager Calixto Cisneros: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
Today's win puts Ponce at 40-47, while Hormigueros falls to 42-47.
