Both teams had their chances, but the Mayaguez Alfereces eventually prevailed.

The Mayaguez Alfereces beat the San Sebastian Husares, 5-4, at Parquecito de Mayagüez. The win was due in part to second baseman Hernán Rodríguez, who was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Mickael Lefeuvre was the winner. He's now 7-7. The loser was Malone O'Sullivan.

Rodríguez contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Mayaguez in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Rodríguez took a cutter from Malone O'Sullivan and stroked the home run to left-center. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Alfereces to leap in front, 5-3.

"I did what I could," said Rodríguez. "But like I tell my teammates, 'I can only do so much myself.'"

The Alfereces move to 31-62 with the win, while the Husares drop to 36-57.
