Belicosos Fall to Criptidos, 8-3
|
The home team was supported by a raucous crowd at Parquecito de Canóvanas.
Led by Teddy Tardieu, the Canovanas Criptidos defeated the Carolina Belicosos, 8-3. Tardieu went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Criptidos. Canovanas pitcher Graham Edmonds earned the win, hiking his record to 8-7. Mateo Saldaña suffered the loss. Earning his 14th save of the year was Moisés Paz.
Tied up with the Belicosos in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Criptidos got a boost from shortstop Ahearn Lynch. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Lynch saw a 0-2 slider from Mateo Saldaña and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Canovanas on top, 3-2.
Lynch attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
The 5th-place Criptidos go to 52-41.
