Insignes Come Back Late to Clip Maduritos
|
Parquecito de Barranquitas featured a tense pitchers' duel.
The Barranquitas Insignes eked out a 2-1 win versus the Corozal Maduritos at Parquecito de Barranquitas. Nobody did more than pitcher Alberto Carrales. He was terrific. The Insignes, at 42-54, inhabit 11th place in the Liga José Padilla División Eugenio Ortiz.
Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 18-year old third baseman Éric Dubus had a real shot to win the game. Corozal pitcher Benedicto Meléndez was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, Dubus hit a run-scoring single. The Insignes had a walk-off triumph.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Barranquitas manager Simeón Barrera said.
