The Maracaibo Independientes defeated the Barinas Viajeros, 7-3, in Liga Oeste action at Estadio de Maracaibo. Maracaibo pitcher Luis Almodóvar had a standout performance. With the win over Barinas, the Independientes improved to 25-13.

Lienhart Schaecter hit a 2-run double off Pero Sogliano in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Independientes in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Schaecter had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said Barinas skipper Samuel Morales.
