Giovannino Olmeda drove in one run for Maracaibo. With one out and the game tied in the top of the tenth inning, Olmeda had a clutch at-bat. Facing Maracay hurler Jonás Corona, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Independientes a 3-2 lead.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Olmeda told the Maracaibo News.
