Pablo Mármol, who finished 4th in the LO in wins with 16 in 1912, was locked in. The right-hander led the Maracay Jardineros to a 7-2 win against the Coro Bizantinos at Estadio de Coro. The first-place Bizantinos now sit at 26-17.

The Jardineros got a lift from catcher Pacífico Villalobos, who in the top of the fifth stroked a 0-1 curveball to center for a 2-run single. It was his 34th hit of the season and put the Jardineros ahead, 6-1.

"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Villalobos.
