Jardines de Maracay was the site of a true pitchers' duel.

The Maracay Jardineros eked out a 2-1 win versus the Barquisimeto Crepusculares at Jardines de Maracay. Nobody did more than pitcher Reginaldo Alonso. He was terrific. Maracay has 3 straight wins, Barquisimeto 3 straight losses.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Jardineros had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when first baseman Nicanor Gámez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Mateus Balieiro and made the score 2-0, Jardineros. Gámez was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.

"It was just a matter of executing," said Maracay manager Alberto Méndez.
