The Coro Bizantinos topped the Maracay Jardineros, 6-4, in Liga Oeste action at Estadio de Coro. The game was highlighted by the performance of Coro pitcher Fernando Mascorro. Graciano González recorded the save, his 1st. The first-place Bizantinos improved to 42-22.
Edmondo Navarro had a big 2-run triple for the Bizantinos in the bottom of the first inning. With Coro leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from three-time All-Star Julio Berrones and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 6th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bizantinos ahead, 3-0.
"When Fernando is on, he can really move the ball around," said Coro manager Pablo Moreno.
