The Merida Caballeros locked up a win at Caballeros Ballpark, knocking off the Coro Bizantinos, 3-1. On the mound for Merida was right-hander Raúl Rodríguez. He played a major role in the triumph. Quilvio González, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save. The second-place Caballeros hiked their record to 39-33.

Julio Ruano dealt the Bizantinos a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Merida leading 2-1, Ruano, who is a six-time Acutísimo (LBPV) winner, hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single.

"You need to show up when your number's called," said Ruano.
