The Coro Bizantinos topped the Merida Caballeros, 4-2, with left fielder Martín García playing a big role. García went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI for the Bizantinos in the win. Getting the save was Canice Gray, his 7th. The first-place Bizantinos improved to 50-29.

Columbano Mendoza, who finished 2nd in the LO in wins above replacement with 7.1 in 1906, aided the Coro cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder went 1-4.

"I like winning," Mendoza told the Coro Chronicle. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
