Cumana got a decent performance from pitcher Ramón Lenz, but it wasn't enough to beat the Puerto La Cruz Timoneles. Puerto La Cruz won the Parque de Cumana contest, 4-3. Lenz threw 9.0 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. Earning his 3rd save for Puerto La Cruz was Marco Maldonado. Puerto La Cruz, at 33-27, sits in second place in the Liga Este.

In the top of the ninth, Luis Frías changed the outcome of the game. With the Timoneles trailing 3-2, Frías hit a 2-run single for Puerto La Cruz, putting his team in the lead.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Frías told the Puerto La Cruz Herald.
