The rain came, as predicted, but the Bolzano Dolomiti and Leipzig Kaufmaenner were able to complete their ballgame.

Riding the 3-hit performance of the 24-year old third baseman Beniamino Gortana, the Bolzano Dolomiti stopped the Leipzig Kaufmaenner, 11-1, in 9 innings. Ubaldo Mezzatesta earned the win to go to 11-5. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts in 9 innings of work.

With Bolzano leading 4-0 in the top of the seventh, Gortana came up to bat against Leipzig pitcher Madison Gardner. Gortana hit a slider to left for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Dolomiti on top, 8-0.

Leipzig manager Jesse Trerotola called the blowout loss "just something that happens from time to time."

The win puts the Dolomiti at 30-19, while the Kaufmaenner drop to 23-26.
