Wet weather did not postpone the Leipzig-Magdeburg ballgame.
The Kaufmaenner grabbed a win, 3-2, at Halbkugeln-Stadion, overcoming a fine effort from Magdeburg pitcher Raynard Weber. Weber went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. Dietrich Krause, who is tied for 5th in the WLK in wins with 7, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Earning his 4th save of the year was Gerhard Klug.
Leipzig won the game in part because of Valentin Kohl. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Kaufmaenner ahead, 3-0. For the game, Kohl had 1 double and 1 home run in 3 at-bats.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Magdeburg manager Erasmo Almodovar.
Leipzig is now 24-27, Magdeburg 31-18.
